Now there's a statement for you folks!!! Anyone would think I've taken a weekend trip to Siberia (though it certainly feels like it) the way the papers go on. For goodness sake, it was about 10cm of snow which has now all but melted leaving nice sheets of ice that are ever so much fun to go flying across when one is madly dashing for the train, car etc. Anyone would think it was the apocalypse. Though sadly does fly in the face of the imminent threat of global warming. Warming?! HA! Chance would be a fine flipping thing, more likely to freeze than to be slowly roasted to death.
Also, it does worry me how everyone seems to completely lose their common sense. Especially those poor dear souls employed by National Rail. I mean I'm hardly asking questions at MENSA level. I wouldn't have thought asking how to get home would cause so much debate or confusion...hmmm...maybe I will accidentally end up in Siberia after all!
Meanwhile I thoroughly enjoyed reading a story about people who were trapped in John Lewis (the department store for those who remember, not an incredibly fat man) in Buckinghamshire (I think) who got snowed in and stayed the night after being offered food and a bed to sleep in!! How fab, almost tempted to head up there and see this for myself. Obviously will try and keep it a secret from him indoors lest he gets jealous...!
So I brace myself for what adventures await me tomorrow.

Oh the excitement
Well as I write this, the sun is STILL shining, unfortunately since the 'rents arrival it has done nothing but rain. Which of course we've all used to our best advantage and spent most of our time shopping. Now that I finally have money (God knows how) have been treating myself to some new items of clothing so that work don't think I've turned into a bag lady - so far I've a new jacket, jeans, work trousers, vest and shoes - all on special too. But before you get all excited thinking I've won the lottery, I've bought one of each of these things (apart from the shoes, that I bought as a pair as one would be silly even by my standards). No idea how I'll get it all back home on the train, but I'll worry about that later. Have even picked up some new jewellery (thanks Ma) courtesey of big sister Nicky's Virgin Vie party - talk about self-improvement!!
Now after all that excitement we're having a day off from burning through the ol' debit card! About to have a non-traditional Sunday early evening tea with all the family before gearing up for another week. I can only cross my fingers and hope we have no rain, otherwise it means another trip to the shops to stock up on winter woollies!!
Still making plans for our family trip to Gaye Paree, though have turned down the option of spending £200 a night at a 5 star hotel...thought that was a bit too excessive. I've a tendency to get way too excited about spending money on holiday thinking 'it really doesn't count' and when I get home I sob hysterically over my bank statements crying "Why me, why me"...oh well at least I won't be depriving my non-existent children of food while I throw my money away on frivolous items of clothing, shoes etc. Bis sister continues to reassure me that right now in my life I'll be the richest I'll ever be...eeek!!! Note to self - must buy more Lottery tickets NOW!!!
Sorry, still no photos as I've still not connected my camera...hmmm really must see to that otherwise there really is still no proof that its actually me making contact...
Anyway, I must dash, lots of lovely food to eat and wine to drink, after all I am on holiday!!! Hurrah!!!

Last one to join the fun
Hello dear family and other people...
Have decided to finally join in the 21st Century and start blogging. God knows why as I'm useless at letter writing, emailing, phone calling, in fact its a wonder that my family still know I'm alive. Maybe that's why they keep visiting...Anyway thought this might kill lots of birds with few stones and keep in contact with everyone as well as show everyone that I'm still alive. Except haven't quite got to grips with my digital camera...It's a worry when your 'rents overtake you with mastering the art of technology!!
So far I've had a great week off and looking forward to another week off next week. Sadly its done nothing but rain since Mum & Dad got here, that seems to have thrilled them no end and much to Mother's dismay we're rapidly running out of shops to visit! Luckily the sun visited us today so we've all cheered up remarkably.
Hmm what else...have a feeling this blog may not be as exciting as you all may've hoped...Although my life does have its dramatic moments (eat your heart out Eastenders) nothing of note happens on a daily basis. Sadly, as I have no children I'm at a disadvantage with amusing anecdotes. No bum-smacking machines for me!! Unless I invent a male mind-reading machine then that will solve all my problems...so I am no longer left in a permanent state of confusion (which these days isn't hard). Ahhh I can only dream and remain confused...
In the meantime I'm cheering myself up for my 2nd trip to Paris this year. Last time I went was in February and it was freezing cold, I mean I thought England was cold but this was another kind of cold!! This time I was hoping for some much needed heat but I have a horrible feeling my good friend Mr Rain might pay a visit to my parade...hmmm I jolly well hope not! At least this time I can get of climbing all the enormously tall buildings as 'I've done it all before with the photos to prove it'. I'm hoping my dear big sister Nicky doesn't think I've won the lottery and book us in for 4 nights at Le Crillion. For those who aren't in the know, its the most expensive hotel in Paris. I'm guessing the rooms clean themselves and you're hand-fed oysters and caviar 24 hours a day...
Finally bought myself an iPod the other day (see I warned you I was behind the times) for my lovely trips on the train. Fortunately I don't appear to attract the nutters that insist on talking non-stop to you for the entire trip though there's always time...Will proceed to fill it with loads of loud music to drown out the ever-so-helpful train announcements that advise me which carriage I'm travelling in and what my other 100 destinations are before I can get home. The first time is helpful, the other 42 times is just plain irritating. Repeat after me, I love public transport because I'm saving the polar bears. Well I hope the polar bears are ever so grateful!! I should get a car, but with fuel prices the way they are I could probably only afford to drive it up and down the driveway twice a week!
Right enough ranting. Tomorrow will be a new day filled with joy because at some point Mr Sun will come out to play and he will have so much fun that he won't want to go and hide for the rest of summer...at least until the end of the month...Failing that, something exciting (non-Eastendery) will happen to/in my life.
Love to you all
Jemma
